As these significant sporting grants were announced by the State Government, Sport Minister Leon Bignell said:
“The State Government supports sport at all levels, from grassroots through to elite and this funding package, along with Community and Recreation and Sport Facilities Program, will go a long way towards ensuring we encourage South Australians take part in sports they love.”
Helen O’Brien, Director of Catholic Education SA congratulated the College, “This is a wonderful achievement for the school,” she said.
Principal of St Francis de Sales College, Pam Ronan, is delighted for both the College and the Mount Barker community to receive this contribution towards the development of the Sports Hub. Pam said that there was strong community support for the facility as well as high demand for venues that could cater for regional, and even national sporting and community events. The soccer and basketball academies at the College will enable aspiring champions to strive for even greater excellence, and the four courts will also be used by the growing numbers of students at St Francis de Sales undertaking dance, drama and music.
