From 7 May - 10 May, 41 Stage 1 and 2 Art, Design, Drama and Music students were in Melbourne to take part in an Arts Trip that engaged, inspired and entertained all who attended. The experience included guided tours of the Victorian College of the Arts, the Melbourne Arts Centre and the thriving scene of Melbourne street art, practical workshops for scripting radio ads and stencilling, theatre (yes, we saw The Lion King – fantastic!), fine dining at Lygon Street, Chinatown and St Kilda, rides at Luna Park and shopping at the Queen Victoria markets. The students were accompanied by Ms Michelle Hahn, Ms Talia Hails, Ms Jane Thompson and Mr Michael Godfrey.
Our students received a number of positive and glowing comments on their behaviour and demeanour and we are very proud of them all. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to have new experiences, including getting to know each other. Here are a few comments from some of the students who took part in this trip:
“The trip was an eye-opening experience that showed me various pathways that I wouldn’t have previously considered . . . and will affect my opinion of the Arts for the rest of my life.”
“I really enjoyed the Melbourne Arts Trip, especially the workshops for creating radio ads and street art, however, the highlight was definitely the Lion King!”
“I liked the street art and general vibe of Melbourne”
“Walking past the many varieties of restaurants showed me just how multicultural Australia really is”
“It is such a rare opportunity to be able to connect with people through the thing we all love; we went as friends and returned as a family”
Overall, the Arts Trip to Melbourne 2015 was a roaring success!
