Careers Education

Career development is about building the skills to manage learning, work and life. We inspire students to take ownership of their career decision-making process and to provide access to a wide range of career resources and activities at the right time.

Our careers program builds on the broad curriculum and pathway options offered by St Francis de Sales College that promote the development of initiative, self confidence, positive self image and resilience that helps students with their long term career development.

Parents have a key role to play in helping their child make career choices. Parents can help their child by being positive about their ideas and their chances of finding a satisfying career path.

Students in Years 10 to12 actively participate in career development activities and events within our College and by attending external events. All students in Years 10 to12 are invited to attend the Speakers in School program. This assists them in finding out more information about a particular profession or career.

Students are also given opportunities to attend career expos across South Australia.

What's Uni Like?

"What's Uni Like'  is a massive open online course that is free to access and self-paced.  The online course explores key areas of student expectations, transition to university life, academic writing and reading, digital literacy and online learning skills.  This website is a fantastic resource that enables students to consider three really important questions around tertiary study:

  • Is university for me?
  • What should i expect at university?
  • What academic skills will I need to study at university?

The online course is aimed at students form 14 to 22 years of age, so whether your child is studying PLP, applying for university, or just considering what their choices for the future are, this website can help to make informed decisions around further study options.
