Principal's Welcome

A good education is the greatest gift we can give our children as they thrive in a safe, supportive learning environment.

Dear Families,

My name is Gavin McGlaughlin and I have joined the St Francis de Sales College community as Acting Principal for the remainder of 2017. My substantive position is at Mount Carmel College in Rosewater where I have been Principal since 2010. I am very excited to be have been given the opportunity to come to Mount Barker and work with you all in Pam Ronan’s absence this year, and I hope that together we will be able to sustain and strengthen the great educational service the College offers for its students.

I want to acknowledge the extremely warm welcome that I have experienced in my first few days in the community from students, staff and families. It is a clear indication to me that the College not only names its Heart values, but lives them on a daily basis. I am very much looking forward to building relationships with all members of our community so I may come to better understand the St Francis de Sales College story, and determine how I can
best work within our community to ensure outstanding opportunities continue to be provided to our students.

It has been terrific to have the opportunity to meet parents at events such as the Year 10 to 12 Parent Welcome and Information evening and this week’s Year 4 to 6 Assembly. I look forward to catching up with many more of you at events such as these in the very near future. Arriving at the College at the unusual time of the commencement of Week 4 has provided me with unique insight into College life. Whilst everything has been new for me in these early days, the normality of the activity of a school in full swing has been very evident.

Everywhere I go I see evidence of an organised and effective start to the school year, with your hard working staff ensuring there is great learning going on in our learning spaces across R to 12.

I feel blessed to have been provided with the opportunity to join the community and I very much look forward to our work together during 2017.

Gavin McGlaughlin

Acting Principal
